Alpha Introduces AlphaNet DM3.0: Integrated DOCSIS 3.0 Management Hub Expands Outside Plant Power Management
Power management of the outside plant is getting a major boost, thanks to Alpha’s new DM3.0. The new status monitoring card is an upgrade to the existing DSM3 family for Alpha XM3’s and XM2’s, and represents a significant advancement in technology.
In addition to providing real-time monitoring of HFC network health, including integrated power supply management, standard ANSI/SCTE alarms and data, and additional alarm parameters, the DM3.0 expands outside plant management and power supply functionality by providing:
- A gigabit Ethernet port, which when combined with an optional PoE injector, creates a powered gateway device for Wi-Fi, cameras or other devices.
- The ability to use the power supply as a 24/7 network test probe, allowing for advanced RF network test capabilities, such as full spectrum capture, micro reflection and QAM constellation monitoring.
- A greater level of management and diagnostics of the power supply, batteries and utility power grid, including generator monitoring, utility grid and battery health analysis and remote XM3 firmware updates.
Alpha’s 40 years of excellence in HFC broadband power conversion, combined with the company’s strict design, testing and manufacturing standards for durability and reliability, ensure that the DM3.0 is built to endure the harshest operating conditions. With more than 1,500 hours of industry-standard physical, environmental and performance testing, the DM3.0 exceeds standards for power supply monitoring and gateway performance.
