EM Series adds to Alpha’s industry-leading suite of power solutions

Alpha Technologies announces the launch of the new EM Series power supply for European cable television and broadband LAN distribution systems. Designed, tested and manufactured to meet or exceed the demands of the European market as an entry-level standby power supply, the EM Series’ capabilities can be expanded with external components. The power supply will be shown at ANGA COM (booth 10.2/E41) along with Alpha’s full line of cable/broadband power systems, fiber power solutions and renewable energy equipment.

The same team that delivered the XM Series power supply is now delivering the EM Series. Alpha’s XM Series is the most widely used power supply in North America and many parts of the world. Alpha’s legacy includes nearly 40 years as a leader in the cable/broadband power supply market.

“Our goal was to design an entry-level power supply that would complement our other power supplies, such as the XM3-HP,” said Volker Do̎rre, Alpha Technologies General Manager for European Operations. “We believe we’ve successfully utilized our engineering assets to deliver a highly reliable and cost-effective unit.”

As the cable/broadband industry continues to build a more reliable and robust outside plant network, an entry level, high-quality power supply with backup battery capabilities is critical. The EM Series allows MSO’s to move from non-standby to standby power supplies at a very competitive price point.

While meeting Alpha’s strict design and testing standards for durability and reliability of internal components, strategic sourcing, manufacturing and logistics help ensure the product’s competitive cost structure. Additional cost savings of the EM Series over competitors will be gained in the EM’s reliability, backed by a 2-year warranty, and advanced battery management, which can increase battery life by 20 percent, both of which help to reduce total cost of ownership.

On display at the Alpha booth (booth 10.2/E41) will be several broadband power products, including the award-winning XM3-HP, an uninterruptible power supply featuring leading-edge efficiency ratings, enhanced protection levels and the tightest output voltage regulation ever offered. Other unique system attributes include embedded DOCSIS® communications and dynamic multi-stage battery charging technology.

For those seeking fiber power solutions, Alpha will display the telecommunication grade eight Watt FlexPoint 1208-F RFoG power supply, and the 15 Watt FlexPoint 1215.

For complete end-to-end monitoring solutions, Alpha will display the CheetahXD, XM360 and Seldon Continuity, which allows for the monitoring of the entire cable plant from the headend to the home.

A new solution which enables deployment of WIFI and other peripheral hardware along the outside plant will be shown at ANGA for the first time.

For Renewable Energy applications, Alpha will display the OutBack Power FLEXpower ONE Inverter System, a compact, easy-to-install, pre-wired system for renewable energy applications with small to medium power requirements. The FLEXpower ONE features an advanced design that delivers pure sine wave power suitable for powering traditional loads as well as sensitive electronics.

Other items on display include Alpha batteries, enclosures, surge protection equipment and transponders.
