Alpha’s New PoE and Backhaul Device Mounts Anywhere Along HFC Network

CableTecPGDAlpha Technologies is pleased to announce the debut of a new power and data backhaul device that offers MSO’s a new, untapped revenue stream on existing infrastructure. The new Alpha PG-D Power Gateway can be connected anywhere along the HFC network, and converts the voltage and bandwidth into a standard Power over Ethernet (PoE) interface for street-level devices.

The Alpha PG-D allows the deployment of carrier-class Wi-Fi networks, or other connected devices, such as cameras or traffic monitoring devices. Roughly the size of a loaf of bread, Alpha’s PG-D can be strand, wall, or pole mounted, provides power and backhaul for up to two separate devices, and is built with hardened components to withstand years of severe environmental conditions.

“We live in a world where mobility and connectivity offer huge advantages, both economically and socially,” said Drew Zogby, president of Alpha Technologies. “This new enabling technology offers enormous potential for a more connected world by furthering leveraging the existing HFC plant.”

Alpha’s 40 years of excellence in HFC broadband power conversion, combined with the company’s strict design, testing and manufacturing standards for durability and reliability, ensures that the PG-D is built to endure the harshest operating conditions.
