AlphaGateway Broadband Small Cell (BSC) Wins 2017 Diamond Technology Award for Best in Active Network Hardware
BELLINGHAM, Wash. – November 2, 2017 – Alpha Technologies Inc.a global leader in broadband solutions, today announced that the AlphaGateway BSC (Broadband Small Cell) has received a Diamond Award from Broadband Technology Report’s 2017 Diamond Technology Reviews. These reviews serve as a recognition program with the winners of each category earning a Diamond Award for their contribution to the cable broadband industry.
For the first time in the Diamond Technology Review’s 13-year history, products that stood out amongst the competition were named technology winners in their respective categories. The AlphaGateway BSC claimed its Diamond Award for best in Active Network Hardware with its transformative technology that meets the high power, high bandwidth needs of Small Cell applications.
One judge remarked that the AlphaGateway BSC is a
[v]ery strong product concept which will enable superior leveraging of existing coaxial network in residential and commercial business applications. Dimensions allow true small cell footprint and efficient power distribution/consumption in support of operating cost efficiency. Assuming Alpha’s continuing commitment to very high-quality product engineering I would expect this to be a long-term surviving leading edge product.
Similar to the AlphaGateway SMG, the BSC utilizes a hardened DOCSIS 3.1 modem along with enhanced power transformation technology. The four outputs on the device provide 80-90VAC connections totaling 300W, enabling power and backhaul for up to four Small Cell radios, or other revenue-generating devices.
With its ability to provide the critical components of power, backhaul, and real estate, the AlphaGateway BSC is another industry-leading solution in the AlphaGateway Family that provides new and exciting revenue opportunities to MSO’s.
